Replace Mr Roosevelt?

This morning, I lost Mr. Roosevelt, my 2-year old roo, after his foot got caught in the electric fence. He was alive even after I turned off the energizer, but I think the electricity was too much for his heart even when I trued getting his leg untangled. He was a very aggressive roo who turned against me once he hit adolescence. But I loved him so much and always protected myself when in the run or coop. Mr. Roosevelt was a beauty and a magnificent protector of our 10 girls. I never thought I would fall in love with such a macho, and now my heart is broken.

I assume the girls will slowly adapt. Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone take on a new roo? It seems to me that would be sn impossible endeavor since the girls literally grew up with Mr. Roosevelt. Thank you for your wise and kind words!

Sorry you lost a bird.
When you get a new roo, quarantine him for at least a month and then keep him on the other side of a fence for a few weeks so everyone can see but not touch. The girls should accept him no problem. But if you don't need fertilized eggs, there's no point to having a roo.
