Repost as I never got a response

I see...I don’t have quail. And I’m not seeing sub zero temps in your weather screen shots. I keep chickens and we’ve had a couple weeks of nighttime temperatures at 0* and daytime highs of 14* I’ve trarped my run. It keeps it dry and blocks the frigid winds. There are some weather proofing measures you can take to make it more comfortable. I don’t know why I waited until this year to enclose my run with tarps they are wonderful they truly make a huge huge difference. I don’t know your set up perhaps just bringing them in overnight dunno. I make my chickens as comfortable as possible but they winter outside. If I had a cold snap where it truly did dip 60* degrees and left me with -30* I’d bring them in the garage I suppose.
I posted it to someone else, but I'll do it here for you as well. This is their hutch. The door they are in is their closed off sand box area. However this picture was from when we 1st introduced them into it. They don't actually go inside except to get thier mealworms. I don't know why that is, but I've seen them just stick it outside in the open

Also here is the screen shot for our weather advisory, maybe this helps you understand our temps batter. Ad I said, the winds is what will be putting us in the negatives

My quail won't take shelter from the elements on their own either. I had to wrap the aviary in plastic to keep the wind off them. Maybe you could tarp your pen, and use a solid bottom with soft bedding during the worst of it.

It's probably not the greatest of picture since I just this moment took it from my porch, but a better explanation. The 1 pen covered in plastic is where they were over the summer. We did plastic to shield them from the wind, but they just went to the spot that was left open for air flow. So we moved them to the hutch where we blocked off the back with cardboard and a plastic sheeting since the bottom is open. We hoped they would go inside and stay as they loved the cake pans of sand in the ground pen. They once again avoided the places we attempted to keep wind off of them

Ok great. This is my 1st winter with quail. We were out of ideas on keeping them safe from the elements when they kept avoiding the attempts we made. They seem to be fine here in the house, just all calm and laying together. I just worried if it would mess them up when they go back out in a couple of days

hi jus1 I live in KY it was 9 degrees this morning my
quail look fine . I have plastic around the cages witch is in a large dog run and a tarp over that. three of the cages are above the ground and one is on the ground. they have little boxes they can go in and I stuff the cages with hay they love the hay . I change the water out twice a day and give them their feed plus meal worms and frozen corn that I defrost . IT suppose to warm up by tomorrow this weather is like up and down I hate it.
