65 views and no replies....which is weird cause that forum is pretty active.

I don't even know where to find certain threads, I never even knew that was a thing. I still don't fully know how to use this site. I guess I'm just going to pull all the eggs I see

How old are they? If they just started laying, i would guess they are just finding a spot to lay, not necessarily trying to build a nest to brood. Just collect the eggs if they aren't fertile and you don't want them to sit on them.

Thank you. This has been my only answer. They won't be fertile because I moved the males. I'll only put them together when I need fertile eggs. Assuming that's ok to do

So are you trying to determine if they are broody or not? If you have some other fertile ones that you could give them, and if you want them to be broody, you can leave the eggs long enough see if one stays on them, then swap them out with fertile ones later.. Otherwise, I'd just keep taking the eggs.

Yes I am trying to figure it out. If they will do it I'd rather put a male in with the 2 doing it if I can. Their new hutch has another open space where I could put 1 male with the 2 females as long as that's ok. I know male to female ratio is important. We don't want all eggs fertile as they will be consumed by friends and family, but if I have hens that can and will actually sitting so I don't have to incubate, that would be awesome. They are 5 weeks old and I'm still learning, unfortunately my learning with foods, watering, space, and ratio may be a little stressful for them

Can't fertile quail eggs be eaten, just like fertile chicken eggs?

I don't know how to do that either. I assume the eggs can be eaten yes, but I know people who will not take them if they are fertile eggs, so that's why I don't want them fertilized until I am ready for more quail
