Reptile light for chicks?

My cousin is wondering if a uva/uvb basking light is ok to use for his hatchlings to come? It’s intended for reptiles and gives off a good amount of heat but is uva/uvb ok for baby chicks ?

I use the reptile red bulbs from Walmart sometimes. Usually I use a heating pad though.

Well I have a small heat mat but I don’t think it will do a good job the lamp isn’t red it’s more of a substitute for the sun
