This unit is designed for eggs in general. It works equally well for both. We have many people reporting 100% hatch rates of fertilized eggs.

This unit is the best thing we have found to hatch eggs in and we have tested it against every other model under $400 and tested it more than once and with many different species of eggs both bird and reptile. We stand behind its reliability and effectiveness 100%

There are so many factors that contribute to hatch rates that it is impossible to be completely accurate when doing tests unless several hundred were performed with lots of controls but we know that our unit works great for all kinds of eggs. Even platypus

Most incubators will work and a lot of things are subjective as far as the ease of use. We are just aiming to provide an easy to use unit that works great. Here is a thread with a pic of some chicks hatched in our unit https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=298084&p=8

ChickenCharm
reports that 8 of 8 in that pic.

Exactly what I did -- after reading comments on this post and the web, I decided on a Brinsea. I did do my research. And, like I said, when ReptiPro designs one specifically for chickens, I'll look at it again.

I have this incubator and I love it! The only thing that I dont like is the couple degree temp change from the top and bottom.
It holds temp and humidity really really well and this week I should be starting my first incubation in this incubator with some duck eggs

Steven, please keep us informed about your hatch rates. I am really curious. I've been looking at these off and on but I want to talk to someone that has actually hatched in one.

No problem

We have made some modifications to our units so that now the internal fan runs constantly. This has eliminated the temperature gradient from top to bottom. We will be coming out with a new model later this year which has a little more room inside since the fan housing in the back is recessed. Also this new unit has updated styling and the power converter that steps the power down from 110v to 12v is built into the unit so there is no more converter box inline on the wire. The fan will run constantly in this new unit and the temperature gauge on the front should be more accurate since we are relocating the thermostat probe away from the heating/cooling element.

Once we have this new unit ready for market we will be sure to let everyone know.

DO NOT buy. It is a beautiful but useless. Thermostat is a piece of crap. A web search shows the thermostat is a common complaint and failure and just about impossible to replace. Inside temperature varies greatly top to bottom shelf. egg turner sticks. Mine went up after 45 days and found out there is only a 30 day warantee. Lost about 50 plus turkey eggs due to the incubators burning them up or freezing them to death.

A watse of $200 smackers.
