In the Brooder
Hey gang! (long time lurker, first time poster...)
I recently hatched some eggs from MPC. Several were "known" breeds (i use air quotes because they have quite a few proprietary blends lol), several were "mystery eggs". I have been able to sex most of them and guess breeds confidently, save two that are vexing me.
I have one mystery chicken that is a naked neck... I am guessing light brahma? Brahma mutt? This chicken has grown fast, has tree trunks for legs, and started darkening in the comb and face quickly (at about 4 weeks). I was thinking Roo. We are now at 8 weeks old, and, other than size growth, I haven't seen any changes further in the Roo direction. Wondering if I am wrong? My husband is convinced its a hen, but he also just likes being contrary
My second chicken in question is a frizzled olive egger. This one is also 8 weeks old. Its got a fairly red comb, but the comb type isn't really telling like a single comb is. No wattles either. This one can be a little feisty from time to time also. However, not knowing the parent breeds, I don't have much to go on. Any guesses on breed mix and sex would be appreciated.
Thanks!
