Requirements for a Ducky backyard?

I have five Khaki Campbell's in a fenced yard similar to yours (3 girls and 2 boys). Mine are only loud when they are excited because it is time for me to let them out. Unfortunately for my neighbors, that includes breakfast about 6:30 am.

Mine spend the day in a large fenced area which also contains my raised garden beds which have less snails, slugs, and plants than preduck time I get home about 4 and let them out to roam the yard until dark. I do not have problems with them damaging the landscaping or the flower beds. They come running to me for treats if I go outside. They only rarely poop on the patio because I chased them off when they were young.

I started with two and soon realized I should have started with three. That way, if something happens to one, the others still have each other. I decided to add one, which then became three (duck math) which is why I have five! But I wouldn't trade any of them.

My feathered babies are happy with one baby pool, one under bed Rubbermaid container, and one 35 gallon pond liner from Home Depot, but I do change the water daily, which is a lot of work. They also love mud and will quickly turn any water brown. As others have said, you probably don't want them in a decorative pond.

They have turned out to be way more work than I initially thought but I get three eggs a day and look forward to coming home to them. They have such personalities. I would highly recommend the experience!

I would say, lots of cover, lots of shade & lots of water buckets. Be prepared to change at least once (preferably twice for drinking water) a day. Their swim pools I'll let go for a few days. And a scrub brush for all the algae!
