Hi I rescued 5 chickens yesterday and all are eating and drinking well but I noticed one chicken is breathing a little harder than the others , with her beak opening and closing , she seems well in herself eating and drinking , and wondering around in the garden with the others, I read somewhere that it could be due to her poor conditions where I rescued her from , and it should clear up soon but I wasn’t sure wether it’s worth taking her to a vet or maybe buying some tonic or antibiotics online , do she need to be separated from the other hens untill she’s better ? Any advice or help will be greatly welcomed :)

It's not a bit unusual for a chicken to suffer traumatic stress when moving into a new environment. A chicken who is experiencing traumatic stress will appear to be breathing heavily with beak agape. It doesn't necessarily mean the chicken is having trouble breathing.

You can ease this stress by giving these chickens some sugar and electrolytes in their water for the next 24-48 hours.

If this doesn't resolve the symptoms of this chicken, then you might consider a respiratory issue.

Thank you I will definitely try this
