Thank you for showing him kindness ♥ I'd spray or dust your own flock's pen out of precaution so the mites/lice don't take hold. DE works well too. I buy the permethrin concentrate at TSC and mix my own in a quart bottle and spray all around my chick brooder (also on my goats, cows and horses) and use DE in the coops. Both are available at TSC.

Most options won't kill the mite or lice eggs so weekly treatments are necessary. Usually around 3 or 4 treatments, each around a week apart.

I thought the extra space was worth the price vs a cardboard box or something. Plus there’s storage, and a zip up top

This is mine I made out of book shelves. There are a lot of options.

I also used melon boxes.

Super! My main criteria for a brooder is that it's large enough and it's cat proof. I'll be trying to not let my cat upstairs when I have the chicks anyway, but better safe than sorry.
