Hi i’m new here, I rescued my neibor hen last week. She has a huge abscess in het leg. zthos poor girl has been three it all even a Hawk attack the almost killed her. I be been treating hey for a few days. i think i need to try to drain the abscess. I need instructions on how to safely do this or at least try. she is eating drinking and her poo is normal.

just clean with betadine and can spray veterycin wound spray! Wrap with gauze and vet wrap. May need to check in with avian vet for abx. Glad eating and drinking well!

Welcome to BYC! I assume the neighbor has left her care to you? Rather than drain the abscess, I would use warm compresses on it two to three times a day for about 10 minutes each time.
It would be best to post in the emergency section, with pictures if possible. There are some very knowledgeable people there.
