Rescue duck help

Hi all, I also recently rescued a drake -- someone left him on the beach in my town. I have had him for about two months. His colors came in about a month ago, so I now know he's a Buff duck (gorgeous) but still fairly young. It took about a month, but now he is fully integrated with my flock of six chicken hens. He LOVES his hens. When I first brought him home he was terrified of me, but is slowly, slowly getting so that he doesn't panic every time I walk by, and he even takes a few steps towards me when the girls come running over for treats. He does panic if I try to touch him, so I don't. I am aware he may start mating the hens -- if I get him a girl duck, should I get an adult? How hard is it to introduce ducks? (I've done it with a lot of chickens, so am accustomed to the fighting...)

He should not be with Chicken Hens...You get Duck Hens and put him with them..Generally he will breed ASAP..He will love Duck Hens..I do not house Ducks and Chickens together. Drakes have a penis and Roosters do not..Can kill a Chicken Hen if he breeds them.

(3 years and 15 chickens later)
Me:

Mom: Ok
(The next summer I’m up to 8 & 4 months later I’ve got 10 chickens)

Same thing happened this year after I had to rehome my first flock. My mom agreed to 5 large fowl pullets for March. I got her to agree to 3 bantams already. I’m up to 8 so far.

So lucky. My parents think 10 chickens is too much. I can’t believe them, 10 chickens is like a micro flock.

I'm lying....I hatch Chicks under my Broody Hens and get excited every time ...Yikes I have a problem and love Birds.

I would love to hatch my own chicks. My mom won’t even let me get cockerels/roosters to grow out for meat
