My ducklings would not have a heat lamp. Heat pad for 4 weeks in the bathtub and then booted outside.

Ah, yes, I see....something I've just never paid any attention to.

My ducklings would not have a heat lamp. Heat pad for 4 weeks in the bathtub and then booted outside.

You remember my Momma Heat Cave? - I still had a ceramic heat lamp at hand, just in case. Those duckies have never been outside and were always tucked away in a cozy warm chicken house (except when they broke the bulb), so their feathers are still spotty. They need the heat, at least at night and it is freezing out here, not bathtub warm as it is in Texas…

I like the Momma Heat Cave idea. Also, it will be different brooding out here compared to the old place. The bathroom is 3 times as big and I don’t think keeping the lights on will help here. Maybe after the first of the year I will have time, money, and energy to build another duck house. That has to be done before we hatch/ brood.
