Rescue duck needs help

I recently rescued 2 pekin ducks from an owner that could not properly care for them. They both had multiple bumbles on both feet and one seems to have a broken leg. My brother in law is small animal Veterinary surgeon, and he has a degree in poultry science, so he is usually my go to for Veterinary needs of my ducks. We did successful bumblefoot surgery on both ducks, and both are being treated with antibiotics post surgery. I would love any advice on treating broken legs in ducks. The expense of operating is more that I would like to Incur for this duck, however I would like to rehab the duck and I am happy to spend the time necessary to rehab the injury. My brother in law specializes in orthopedic surgeries in dogs and cats, and we are not exactly sure what the best game plan in for the duck. I am giving the duck meloxicam. He is isolated. I want to make him a brace for his leg, but I would love some advice as to what works best

Perhaps a splint will work. You can use popsicle sticks.
