Rescue duck. Please help

As far as I know, our neighbor has no ducks though I know a few blocks down someone use to raise chicken. I don't think they do anymore though. This little guy has great timing since my partner and I are on a week staycation but once we go back to work, we won't be able to provide the 24hr care for him. He cries every time we leave him alone so we've been keeping him nearby in a box. He loves to snuggle and sleep on me or my partners 7 year old son

Oh, is he a mallard? I was going to find a pond to put him in with other ducks but with a torn wing, he might not make it. The injury looks old and healed over. No blood and he doesn't seem too bothered by it. His balance is off though. He falls over easily. Poor guy. He's a tough bird to survive this far.

Thanks sarah!

Can I see a pic? Do any of your neighbors have ducks? Great job rescuing him/ her!

What kind of duck is it?
It is either a wood duck (much more likely) or a mallard (i don't think it is a mallard) And yes her is no more than 4 days old....his egg tooth is off so he is around 3 days old.

OMG I love it when people rescue like that. if I were you I would take it to a vet or expert say what they say then wait til it grows up and then set it out in a nearby pond, check on it everyday for 1 week, than twice every week for 2 weeks the 3 times a week for a month and then just check on it annually to make sure its okay!

Yep! looks like a wood duckling ps google it

Awe!!!! It looks only a few days old!
around 3 days. NO WAY 2-3 weeks!

Oh good grief! much younger then we thought! He's going to need all the prayer he can get. All the duck rescues are too far from us. We're his best shot at survival for now. Will continue to try to find a better home for him if he makes it.

Go to your state thread at "Where am I where are you" someone close by may have ducks that can take this lil one. Please do not let it go at a pond it won't make it especially if it can't fly. We'll help if you'll tell us your state.
