Hi, today a friend brought over a wild turkey poult he found on the side of the road. he said they (the flock)were eating in a field, and as they were crossing, a bad driver came through and killed 14 of the 15 turkeys in the flock. my friend was driving through when he saw a turkey poult standing on the side of the road, wings drooping. it is now in the house in a pet carrier with some fresh dry hay and water with poultry electrolytes. its has a large lump over its left eye, with is kind of concerning. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depending on where you are it is probably illegal to keep/try to help it. I would get it to a wildlife rehab center as soon as you can.

Contact your local game warden or DNR agent and turn it over to him. Possession of a live wild turkey is illegal.

not sure on laws............... but who amongst us hasn't picked up a dying sparrow brought in by the cats, or perhaps an errant squirrel that is against the law to rehabilitate? if you want to help that much, I would see if it will eat 30% protein Gamebird crumbles.

Turn it over to a vet, They will treat it if possible and then give it to the proper authorities.
