Hello everyone, I'm coming back for more advice. The rooster I volunteered to rescue is home with me and we get along perfectly well. He's a very good boy. He's my first ever rooster. I had never lived in a home with a backyard before.

My question is - I'm near Dallas and right now during the night the temperature drops to 38-42 F. Can the rooster sleep in his coop or is it too cold still?

Thanks in advance!

How old is he? Normally over 6 weeks old chicks are fully feathered and can be put outside. Acclimating them to the cooler temps is best if they've not been exposed to it.

I'm not sure exactly but he's fully grown and strong. Maybe several years old. He's blind in one eye but otherwise healthy. Also he's local. He's lived on the farm where he grew up right up until two days ago when I got him.

Oh, he'll be fine then. Thank you for taking this guy in.

Post a pic of him when you can, please.

Here he is on my kitchen counter.
