Hello and Thank you for your advice! I will be shopping for All Flock today. I don't think that I can get him that many hens right off the bat. For now I'll work on making him comfortableFeed him All Flock. If he's your only one, depending on his condition, I recommend getting 5 or 10 hens of the same size. if you get him some hens, you will need crushed oyster shell in another feeder. the hens will eat as much oyster shell as they need, then should join the rooster at the normal feeder.
I'm not sure. I think that he's blind in one eye. I don't know the size either... he's pretty much a surprise lol. I'll go to Tractor Supply to look for All Flock today. What are his special needs? Size?
He needs to eat an All Flock type of food. Even a good chick starter crumble would be good.
I guess I should .... not that I'm prepared to go from zero to a whole chicken entourage this fast... lol
Hi, it's nice of you to provide a home for the boy. Will you be getting him some girls for company?
Thank you! If I get him hens, won't they be making tons of chicks?Hiya, and welcome to BYC!
Here's our coop forum you might find something appropriately sized you could easily build. If you're getting him a couple of hens, consider each chicken should have 4 sq feet of space in a coop.
All chickens can have baby chick crumbles or all-flock safely. It's just the hens that need calcium supplemented via oyster shell.
