rescued a duckling, UPDATE WITH PICS on page 6!!

Thank you for rescuing it, you are wonderful!! Oscar Wilde said boys should be sent to an island away from anything they can harm until they reach adulthood. In some idiot boy cases he is right.
I don't know anything about ducks. I only know about my own. So take my opinion with a pinch of anything you have on hand but, looks like a muscovy to me! It's got a clear bean on the end of its beak that I think scovies have. I could be wrong, I could be wrong! You will however fall in love very quickly! It looks like it already loves you!

I just get a physically ill feeling when I see something so lovely being treated badly by little ******ds...what goes through the minds of such evil people? I am so glad you got this baby away from them and took it home...kudos to you...a friend for him is a very good idea...

Thank you for rescuing that baby! There are people that would have walked by not caring at all. It's very important for parents to teach their children to respect other living things. So may of us are so seperated from nature we don't even think of it. My children have both been told that if they do anything to hurt and animal I will do the same thing to them. I would like to think that if my 7 year old son would have saw them doing that he would have stepped in.

What I dont get is....WHY ON EARTH...would someone sell ducklings to kids, not just ducklings but any kind of animal. If I was to sell ducklings, dogs, cats, flying pigs or dragons unless your Mama is with you...you aint getting anything. Last thing you need is for the animals to be abused or for the parents to come back and give you hell for selling said animal to them in the 1st place.

thanks for everything,
i just rang the market man and described the duckling to him,
he said that it is probably a muskovy, but that he isn't sure...

right now "waddle" is sleeping under the heat lamp, so cute!!!!

I was wondering that, too. I mean, how can you be sure that the kids have permission from their parents to get a duckling in the first place? The only thing I could think is that the store owners knew the family and perhaps they have other poultry or have bought poultry there before. When I was a kid, I could buy fish for my fish tank with no problem, but I'm not sure about other animals. Most stores where I live would not sell animals to kids without an adult present as far as I know.

I'm glad Waddles is doing well and hopefully he will forget his brief mistreatment.
