Congrats to you!!! You are going to just LOVE your tiny hen!
I have a house chicken. She is a Serama, (but I have OEGBs too). I keep her in one of those large parrot cages, with a couple roosts, and a swing. She is happy and healthy, and actually just hatched her first baby by herself! She does however REALLY love her outdoor time. I made a special run just for my babies and banties, so they would be safe from the bigger chickens.
I used PVC to make a 4'w x 8'l x 3'h rectangular frame, then I used the plastic chicken fencing and zip ties to wrap the sides, and I stretched a piece of shadecloth over the top. Its not totally predator proof, but it separates my tiny birds from my large birds, and it keep curious cats away. I use it when I'm home and nearby to keep an eye and ear on the backyard. Its light weight enough to pick up and move, to put over grass, or dirt. It has worked out great! And was fairly cheap, and super easy to assemble. I didn't glue the joints or anything, it can break down and fold up if necessary.
You might be able to find one of those large parrot cages on Craigslist for cheap. They really are perfect. OEGB's like high roosts. Can they live without them? I'm sure they can, but mine like to flutter those wings a lot!
Kudos to your for rescuing the little darling!
OEGB's are absolutely wonderful little birds. Mine LOVE mealworms, strawberries, watermelon, and whole wheat grains. Not so big on sunflower seeds....
