She has the puffiest face.

I don't envy you and Olivia at all having to choose only 2 of those cutie patuties.

Sending you "Please be a pullet" vibes so that Charlotte doesn't become Charlie!

Charlotte is a cutie! Saving a chick isn't the hard part SeaChick, giving away 4 of those little darlings will be! Are ya sure you can't just hide them in the cabinets, under pillows, or in the linen closet should the chicken police happen by?

Maybe she IS a banty that got mixed in with the big ones? You know how kids always pick them up and who knows if they get put back in the right bins

Seachick, we may be interested in Charlotte. We were happy with a flock of five, but one of our Buff Orps passed away last month due to egg-plumbing problems, and our flock is seeming small. I've been interested in Easter Eggers, and it seems your story of sick-chick-rescue seemed to speak to me. I was interested in her even before I saw how cute she is... Can you keep us in mind when the time comes to make a decision?
Thanks,
Laura

Laura- I will definitely let you know when the time comes.... I know she would go to a VERY good home!

It is going to be a really hard decision. We knew it would be.... but when we ordered our chicks we knew we didn't want to order just 2, because then what if one was a roo or didn't make it? Plus there was 3-chick minimum. So we said, "OK: WE'll order 3."
And then we figured "well, if we're going to have to give ONE away, why not TWO? We'll order 2 EEs and 2 Welsummers and keep our faves."
And then MyPetChicken said, "You get a free chick when you order 4!" So there was 5.
And then they sent an extra (little Valentina who died)....
and now this girl!! 6!!

Charlotte has major cuteness going on! Good luck with your decisions, and so glad you were the one to take "her" home with you.

This is why I don't go to feed stores.

Tempting as it is.

Thanks Stacey - we'd be open to adopting one of the others if you decide Charlotte will stay with you. Our local feed store doesn't have chicks ever, so getting a single one locally is impossible. Thanks.

I bet Charlotte is a lot happier now she's with the other chickies! We rescued an ex-battery hen that was found in my friends garden (she had escaped from the local meat processing plant - the hen that is, not my friend

) and she would not stop pacing until we let her into the coop with our other adult hens.

That's such a great story of how Charlotte came to be with you, and you must be so glad you helped her out. She looks really happy in those photos and has to be one of the cutest chicks ever

It is so wonderful to read about others who are kind enough to devote to special care of one of God's wee creatures, esp the under"chickens". I proudly hold my head up amongst the kind hearted softies. Never is it a waste of time.

yea my two chicks love the stuff animal i put in there it is right under the light so they snuggle into him under the light or when their getting brave they'll perch on his lap! i know how u feel though i only have 2 chicks and i ALMOST walked away from a pet store with a free baby turkey, lol. no offense though good thing i said no he wouldn't be able to live with my chicks,i'm a newbie and it he would of been worse off with me!
