Rescued chicken problems

Just give her lots of protein in her diet, and keep washing her bottom to keep it clean. It was a good idea to give her crushed oyster shells.
She'll get there eventually!

Best of luck,

I would start them on fermented feed and always put all natural unpasteurized apple cider vinegar in their water, 1 tablespoon/gallon of water. It would be neat if you gave half you birds that and see how quickly it will make a difference as compared to the rest.

To make the fermented feed just put a good amount of their layer feed in a bucket, add water to just cover it, add buttermilk and stir really well then set it aside a couple days to ferment. You may have to add more water when the feed starts to swell. You want it like cookie dough consistancy. How much buttermilk depends on how much feed you are working with. I would guess maybe 1/4 to 1/2 a cup to one gallon of feed. There is a thread about the fermented feed here on BYC.

Thank you !
Will look into fermented feed.
Things are seeming to go in the right direction which is great. Will pop some apple cider vinegar in their water now as the wormer is done :)
Lilly has laid one soft shelled egg in 3 days so lets hope a normal egg is on the way :)

Thanks everyone for all your good advice and encouragement x

Great news !

Lilly has laid a lovely normal egg for 2 days running, is bounding about like a youngster and eating well :D
Her poop is normal and she's had 2 baths so her bum looks really good. Shes still pretty light but is troughing now so am sure she'll put weight on.

Here is a little photo taken today with my son :)

She's beautiful!

She looks in good condition in this photo. Maybe a little dirty from dust bathing in soil, but very pretty girl.

How hot is it there? Heat plays a major role in watery poop and soft shelled eggs. If it has cooled down and it has improved, you know that was the reason.

It has cooled down considerably and i do think that played a part, but on top of that they really were infested with mite and had been given all the wrong things to eat. They've been wormed too so I also think that's helped.
She's just so much brighter and bubbly. She sits on my knee or stands on my feet as soon as i go in their pen and comes running when i call her. I,m totally smitten with her. I love all my chickens to bits. :D
