Rescued Duckling... newbie

A question, do i need to feed them seperate feeds now? Her layer and him whatever? They're almost 5 months... speedy will be next week or is as of this week, fancy in a few weeks.

Since all my flock is together I mix my feed so my layers are getting calcium in the layer but my boys and non layers aren't getting over much. All flock and layer, of course with you only having 2 that would be hard to buy so maybe try putting some Oyster shell out for the extra calcium but if they aren't mating I don't think you'll see eggs till next spring anyway. My Muscovy females don't lay their first year it is always spring after they hatch. Now not sure there in Texas but that is the way it is here. They don't even mate till following spring after they hatch. Might just wait till you get that first egg before changing their feed.

Yep then you have a female that wants to brood and becomes moody lil stinkers. lol

Im starting to wonder if thats fancys problem... he'll be all.fancy like worried and chasing after her when she goes.off into the 'unknown' by herself... but then wont let her eat

Maybe let them eat separately if he is giving her grief.

Drakes can sure change in behavior once hormones begin. Maybe put one inside the pen you made to eat and the other outside in the room. ?

Ive tried seperating them, but he watches like a hawk when i do. He gets jelly thinking im giving her something different and leaves his to come take hers. He woke up last night and she was asleep by the water bowl and he literally pushed her off the loft while she was sleeping cause he wanted the water bowl.

I have a rodent problem atm and can't really seperate them cause he goes crazy with worry when he can't see her, and unless she's with me, he does whatever he can to get near her even hurt himself jumping if he has too. he's so contradictory. He kinda does the same with me, it might be the hormones and being scared of the darn rodent.

He sounds like a real stinker. lol When I suggested feeding them separate I was meaning where he couldn't get to her but if he goes out of his way to get to her even hurting himself that isn't such a good idea.

What kind of rodent problem mice Muscovy's eat them.

Rats. Cute rats, but nasty, nasty rats that are going to be the death of speedy and I for lack of sleep and paranoia. I've ran out of great stuff, found an actual hole entry in my kitchen cupboards under the sink, where the gas line comes in from the stove. I dont know wtf theyre doing back there, but every so often i see flashes, like electrocution and i saw flashes like fire sparks the one time, but i dont smell anything and ive checked my co2/smoke alarm a million times to make sure its working. Told the damn pest company about them possibly being back there, but they said oh we'll check next time... grrrrrr

Oh and a mouse or two... too. I think tje mice are what speedy tries hunting, but they are both so scared of the rats, they don't differentiate between thw two.
