Rescued Duckling... newbie

If it's cecal then I'll just start calling him mr. Smelly instead of sir poops a lot... speedys nickname is poop slinger . Him and me though gonna go around if he doesn't quit trying to sneak bites of the great stuff when he thinks im not watching. He knows what drop it means and so does speedy, cause when they don't i chase them around until i catch them and pull it out. Had to do that with fancy cause he grabbed a piece of plastic and was running and chewing cause he knew i was gonna take it.

I can't tell if you're joking or not. if you're being serious, I want to know how you are going to feel when one of them swallows something truly harmful, like a sharp metal or plastic object that punctures something in their digestive tract, or something that causes a blockage in their digestive tract. I'm not very good a sugar coating my posts, so sorry if this sounds harsh. Please, please, please, make their environment safe!

It was me trying to keep it light... i do everything i can to make sure it is safe here for them, i vacuum constantly, ive put up barriers in front of the foam stuff, I've banned a friend from coming over because he thought i was just talking to talk when i told him not to shoot the staple gun off in the house because i didn't want one of them getting a hold of it and he did it anyhow. Ive built ramps for fancy to get to places easier, like the stock tub i got so he could take bathes, they have two cat trees and a loft with a hammock, so they feel safer with the darn rat running amok. I redid the rabbits hutch and put chicken wire on it to try to keep out any and all rodents. I make sure their food is safe, and doesn't go sour from sitting to long. The latex paint was my fault, i set the empty can down for a minute to grab something to take to the garbage, too - and speedy used the little bit that was in it to paint her bill blue. I got it off her, just did the flush to be safe. And fancy getting the wet foam was because i was putting it down to fill in gaps/holes to keep out pests and the cold. He grabbed the straw as i moved past him and it had some on it. The plastic incident is from him following me around the house and tore a piece from garbage bag. Most of the stuff i listed that they've eaten or tried to eat is over the course of the 5 months I've had them. Anytime something came up, i took care of it to make sure they couldn't do it again. The foam thing is him trying to get around the barriers to just rip it off, he's not consuming the dried foamy stuff as its to big and doesn't break up when he chews it. I just adjusted the barriers and cut away any excess foam so he cant get it now. I'm so anal about making sure they are safe that my family thinks I've lost touch with reality... because to me they are the kids i won't have, so i treat them as such and try to teach my ruggies<nieces and nephews> my youngest nephew completely stole my heart and keeping it on my birthday the <21st>. He's only 5, btw... i was bringing their childsplay pen into my moms house along with a bag with stuff in it for them and i had to leave them in the car for the few minutes to do that. No one even noticed he was gone, i set up the pen and go out to bring them and there he was sitting inside my car sweet as can be, keeping them company and watching out for them. He is the sweetest baby with an amazingly hot temper lol, i hope he doesn't change temperament as he grows up.
And update they're both fine now, still stressed because of the rat, but i think the poison is working because they aren't getting as worked up at dusk and dawn...

And tonight, i got more chicken wire/hardware cloth to put up around the bottom of the bunkbeds turned loft, so the darn rat stays out, and they have somewhere on the ground they can feel safe. And that i can put them in at night, so i might actually sleep again...

She maybe getting ready to lay but she won't nest right off? and do you want ducklings?Have they mated yet? How old is speedy now?

She's 5 months, i think she was just getting it ready - she was inside for awhile, scooting around and flattening the hay i put in there for her. She hasn't been in since though, i think she got spooked, but i checked while she watched and nothing was inside. As far as i know, they have not mated yet. And as for ducklings, im kinda indecisive about them. I want her to have some, but i think it would be a better and safer idea to wait until i have a bigger and my own place for us where i dont have to worry about getting evicted or not having enough room, and it becoming unsanitary.

About the bedroom, i was... untik the rat claimed it. I put a temp door up and closed it up with screws in the hinges. I turned my livingroom over to them, essentially.

I am sorry we fussed at you. Bless your heart you have put your heart into these scovy's. I hope you get rid of the rats very soon so ya'll can be back to normal[if there is such a thing when we have critters].

Yep My scovy's when young like speedy would go into the houses and mess around in the shavings like they are practicing even my goose does it. And if someone lays an egg in the shavings[my scovy's aren't laying this time of year] but they will bury any egg they find for later brooding I have to use the pitch fork to uncover eggs . These girls are silly.

Do you keep the light on in their lil coop because of the rats because they really don't need a light on other wise.

It's all good, i know i sometimes dont express myself correctly, that's why i tried to answer without attitude i know y'all are trying to help and i seriously and grately appreciate any and all help/advice I've been given.

Yes, it's because of the rats. They were afraid of the dark before i knew i had a rat, and would climb onto the couch with me and snuggle down. Then one night, they were seriously scared and shaking, and i couldn't calm them or figure out why - I'm deaf and hard of hearing so i don't hear the things they would. I found droppings in the room i was going to use for them and i really hope so cause im so tired lol and we haven't slept in the dark since... not good for them or me.

They are silly. I think fancy is trying to mate with her, but she keeps running from him. She actually ran to me last night and hopped on my shoulder.

She is playing hard to get and now thinks she's a parrot. lol

lol she's been doing that a lot lately, sitting on my shoulder, or if i bend over on my back.
