Rescued Duckling... newbie

She got defensive because she didn't really read all my instructions or follow them. You can tell by the she said she changed the water @8 and lizzie wasnt with her then, but she was going to ask her about putting the duckling in the water - which means she didn't clean or empty it @8. She lied about the last time she gave them clean water, which tells me she didn't make sure he had clean water to wash his face either.

My family is under the impression that I'm over dramatically protective - and I am over protective because I don't want stuff like this to happen to them.

And it did because she didn't do what i asked in the instructions- put liam on his rope out front while they're out back. Nor did she change their water or she would have found it.

And she didn't tell lizzie DONT touch the egg or mess with the baby. Lizzie's only 9, and i know she didn't do it on purpose, she was probably trying to help it and thought it needed to be in the water or something.

Is what it is...

I don't think it was too harsh at all for someone who didn't follow your instructions, thus letting one duck get attacked and injured and then also most likely didn't watch her child who then killed the duckling...

If you volunteer to help someone with their animals you should be willing to follow their instructions. I live in my aunt's house and watch her dogs and cat for two weeks every year when she goes on vacation and make sure to follow her instructions so the dogs are safe. If I didn't follow them and one of them got hurt as a direct result of that I would 100% expect her to be mad at me. She definitely got defensive when called out on it.

Very sorry this happened :hugs

I'm a little worried about Fancy. His voice sounds a little off, I mean its getting better but... and he's definitely not biting as hard as he did before. I'm not counting that as bad, really. I don't mind the lighter nips. I don't see anything else except maybe a scratch on the other side and on top of his bill between the red bump and top. His neck looks a little swollen. But he's eating and drinking and "raping and plundering"

This is how his face looks today.
And speedy, she's stilling on the rubber duckies as if they are eggs... i have to work today, and plan on moving the box and cleaning it out. I'm worried about her.

I checked as much as he would let me. I literally was sitting on the bathroom floor with him, had him wrapped in a towel, and my leg thrown over top of him to hold him down, had a grasp on his bill to clean the wound that much. He didn't appear to be bleeding anywhere else. I got more ACV last night for them.
He's pinching now with his bill to get my attention, and damn that hurts more than his bites! I really wish i could get him to do something else!

Twins even act as if they are glad I'm home now. They come sit on my leg while I'm sleeping. I feel them and it wakes me. Or the 3 of them are at the end of the couch sitting while I'm on it and i move and feel them.

I took the duckies out of box. Speedy came out and fancy jumped her. She went and hopped up on edge of tub afterwards cause she wants a bath but the water was shut off, I have it back on now. I had to do some nice talking and promises for Monday, and went to do some quick errands. I'm not doing anything for the next three days, so i can spend with them and clean up more.

She's been in and out of the box all evening, but is still going back in and sitting on empty nest. I'm putting off emptying the box til last, so i have a clean area for her to get over it. i kinda barricaded fancy and the twins in the bathroom while i clean, so I'm not cleaning and cleaning again times four. I made sure to put towels down in there with food and water.
I can't remember the last time i did such deep cleaning. I wish I had company or someone to just hang out and help get it done faster lol.
