Rescued Duckling... newbie

Pics
Im in Tomball, tx - northwest of houston
i tried tomball but it didnt pull any but houston pulled a bunch

And now I just found out that the one vet i did find, if I don't have papers for my speedy, they might take both of them from me...
oh geez :hugs :hugs

You don't need to take them to a vet. Texas is the only state though that protects Muscovy, so I see why you'd have to have papers. I have had Muscovy since 2004 and have never had to take one to a vet they are very hardy. We can help you with most problems you may face, but look how well Speedy healed from his injury Water fowl are pretty amazing. Standing with a leg tucked up doesn't usually mean an injury it just means they like standing and sleeping on one leg mine do it a lot.

Tell us all you have been feeding them feed and treats. What they eat can make their poop look different each time.

Your doing a great job with them.:hugs
i didnt know that TX protected scovies (i find that weird)

how is speedy today??

Ok, I'm trying to stick to feed. But since I switched from dumor chick starter, had to buy a bag of the organic Dumor chick starter- I actually liked that it smelt better, I think they did too. Then about a month ago, I bought a bag of Dumor chick starter/grower and they didn't like it, wouldn't eat it, I turned it to mush- speedy would pick at it and fancy would eat it. Finally went and bought a bag of the dumor organic starter again to mix with the other and they would pick at it. Went to buy the organic dumor starter/grower, but all the bags had bugs in them. So i got Purina starter/grower. I have a container with rolled oats and cracked corn in it thag i mixed up and ill add the mealworms, so theyll eat it. they gobble the meal worms and hermit crab shrimpfood. They love blueberries, fancy likes strawberries, speedy is kinda eh about them. They don't like peas, frozen, dried, or otherwise. Fancy likes me putting frozen corn in their water bowl and he'll eat it that way, speedy doesn't like it frozen and keeps missing the unfrozen so won't touch them. Speedy likes the special k berry quinoa/oats I eat, so does fancy... I only let them have a little cause of it being sweetened. They won't touch any food if I add the chick grit to it, im going to try sneaking the gravel/grit in that's more like sand. I bought nutra drench and was putting that in their water then got worried I was over doing it. Trying to find that yeast y'all talk about, I went and bought some vitamins, they liked that in their water. I try to put a lil apple cider vinegar in their water at least once a day. They both like the Timothy hay more than alfalfa, and speedy likes to try to eat the pine chips. They both try to sneak past me to eat the carpet padding from where I tore up carpet in my hall. I beat them with that, I put down those metal strips. Sooo fancy took to eating cotton off the couch cushions til i caught him and almost made him gag while pulling out a piece that was hanging out of his mouth. I put sheets on the cushions now. They don't like green except strawberry caps... And hay.

Where I found speedy, there is a whole pond of them back behind the restaurant. I keep getting ppl telling me to take them back there... as if I could just drop them off and they'd run free.

They are not wild any longer are you ready to give them up honestly? There is a Texas thread you can post on to see if you can find someone interested. Can they be outside at all? If you can build them a secure enclosure they could be outside most of the day and you could just bring them in for visits. My drake Opie stays outside most of spring and summer due to him wanting to be with his girls but once his hormone days are over he loves to come in and hang out with us. They really are sweet ducks.

They seem to like the Purina better. And they love stealing the cat food and my dog Liam's. I gave them a little of Liam's mixed with feed today and oats 20171010_145518.jpg 20171010_145208.jpg
These are the vitamins, I have. I have not given the the backyard chicken stuff yet because I saw it had citric acid in it. And everything I've read so far, said no citrus... then i saw a blog that said oranges as treats and im going whst?!?

No, wait! I think I miscommunicated. I don't ask ppl what to do with them, I keep getting unwantedly told what to do with them.
Give them up?!?! Is you crazy?! I loves my speedy more than anything (maybe to much) and fancy is a good boy and takes care of her when im not home. He yells at me sometimes and she starts pecking at him or nipping when he does. Im trying to figure out how to make sure they are taken care of should something happen to me. My family and some friends, think I'm full of it when I tell them repeatedly that they can not be just dumped at the nearest pond, they will die. But I know that's what they will so if something happens to me and that scares me.

your birds sound VERY spoiled!!
lol
maybe lay off the treats and let them go 'hungry' and are forced to eat the proper food and get the right nutrition ;)

i dont like TSC brand feeds (dumor) they tend to be old, i like purina and nutrena
purina flock-raiser is my go-to for young birds
