Rescued Duckling... newbie

Opie does that to me, he can be very loving then seems for no reason will bite me or come after me, just like they do their females. Those boys can be stinkers at times.
Can't help but love them they are so precious.

The picture of her sleeping on me under the blanket, was more of a hide me, momma, fancy won't let me sleep. So, she comes to me to get away from him, he won't jump her when i have her, he didn't like when i literally picked him up off her and lightly tossed him, peter and all onto couch next to me. That made her feel safe to come to me when she wants a break, i think.

She'll come to me, and sleep like that next to me or on my chest under the blankie. It's usually only for about 10 minutes or so, then she'll start making her scared kinda call, hops up to go in the nesting box and stays in there for a few hours. And then we have another egg lol.

She had two yesterday, skipped the day before, and one today - up to 8 now

Wow she is laying to beat the band. Tried them yet?

And now, we have 11!!!
Not yet, I usually breakfast cook on the weekends, but i might try one tomorrow. Have you soft boiled them?

Nope only scrambled and in baking. Let us know what you think. She is a laying machine that one! egg salad yum too

Next question, because as someone mentioned Im very attached. Does she get upset if eggs go missing or is that just my guilt?

Mine do get upset once they go broody but I know I have to do it anyway so I just do.

I think they like the fact we are feeling guilty. lol

I know fancy likes making me feel guilty about stuff cause then he gets whatever he wants until he bites me then he gets snatched up.......

Hmmmm I'm starting to wonder if im doing that whole hold him down thing wrong or he's biting to get me to hold him. Cause when he bites <like a hard nip> me to wake me up, its usually - wants water, food, or something. Or he's thinks sometimes that he's defending territory or so medays i think he's just playing and does it to hard. He KNOWS i dont like him biting really hard though, lol we got into it the other day. I was trying to get water and food for them and I guess i wasn't moving fast enough for hom cause he nipped/bit at my lower calf, caught my pants and held on, i jerked my leg and he landed on against the lower cushions of the couch. He was fine, i went to get water, i didnt hear him fussing, but then i heard fast ducky feet running. he jumped my leg and grabbed my pants. Because of how he grabbed, it didn't hurt, was more of a shock kinda thing, but he was like attached and hanging on for dear life while i tried to shake him off. Had to drop water bowl in sink, and use both hands to detach him, and we went to the couch with me holding him up with both hands under his belly/chest. speedy came running cause she probably thought i was gonna kill him or something cause of the noise, yelling but i just sat on the couch, him up holding under his body with both hands and made him look at me. It took him a few moments, but then he looked and then kinda went all baby on me, lightly nipping and trying to cuddle in. Spoiled brat.

Typical drake stuff. They just get carried away. Opie was in this morning and after he had his dog kibble[yes he loves dog food] I walked by him and he grabbed my leg and held on. I can tell the difference between wanting attention or hormones raging period so I just held onto him for a sec and he got over it. He hasn't started mating with his girls yet but it's getting close since he is getting a bit more agitated. Face flesh getting redder. Now he came in yesterday afternoon and my dh was sitting at the computer Opie was letting him pet him and then just started biting him really hard with his wings and tail kind of spread like he is looking at dh like another drake. He does this at times. I just picked him up and took him outside.
