Btw, how many eggs do they lay? Speedys up to 32

Sounds like Speedy may break a record. I've never counted usually once mine start laying they catch the broody bug after about 9 or so.

I think I'm counting because she's my first

I'm sure if I only had 1 female I'd be counting too. but when you have 10 well you know. lol

I want to clean out the nesting coop, if i clean it out and put new hay down - would she make a new nest?

yep she'll love having new hay to mess around in.

Kk, good. Cause she got upset or scared the other night after i took the 4 from her nest, and she stayed with me and fancy on the couch instead of going into the box like she had been doing. She made all the motions of trying to lay, and kinda made a nest out of the blankets between us, with fancy keeping watch and me laying on my side, kinda curled around both of them. I fell asleep, good thing i don't move much in my sleep - cause she had that egg right there between us, fancy was acting like a proud papa or something showing it off to me.
I showed it yo her when i pivked it up and she watched me put it in the nest. She watched over it all day, and since it was still there that night, she's been using the box again.

She just wanted an egg in her nest. Bless.

I agree, and she goes in now - i left two - she wags her little tail and turns them, covers them up and continues to run to me as shes sqwacking running from fancy. He's banned from abusing her! She came in last night from being outside most of the day, soak and wet - and a lot peeved - she was shaking water off, preening and when i tried to help her, she cuddled in for a minute then went back to preening and glaring at fancy.

Poor Fancy he is so hormone driven he can't possibly understand "not tonight dear" or tomorrow either.
