Rescued Duckling... newbie

I finally made it to vegas. We had a great time yesterday and last night.

And then I get a phone call...

I finally make it home, told her to make sure he had fresh water to clean his face and put some acv in it. I cleaned up his face some more...

And go to empty the dishpan that i use for water... and found this...

I knew I didn't want to go...
I think my niece might have seen it hatching and put it in the pan of water not knowing any better.

I am never going on vacation again!

And fancy isnt leaving my side... and speedy is sitting on an empty nest - what do I do?!? I need a heartbroken emoji...

I was trying to fogure out if maybe Fancy chasing and attacking liam like he did was related to the baby missing. He will usually just peck at liam, but angie said he full out attacked him and chased liam to his room and liam turned on him or something.

I am so sorry about the duckling. All this time and then heart break. Your going to have to get speedy out of her nest remove all the nesting material clean up real good and let her get over it all she will it will just take time.

How is Fancy's face was it a deep wound?

As far as i can tell it just looks like a deep scrape. I cleaned it out as much as he would let me and put some non pain relief neosporin on it, which he tried to rub off

Keep an eye on it animal mouths can harbor slot of bacteria . Don’t useeeroxide again if you need to wash it out use warm salt water you can drench a wash cloth the very carefully not to get it in his eye just dribble over slowly. Very sorry for the loss of the little duckling. Let her get over this and she’llbe Ready to try again

I didn't use peroxide, just warm water and then neosporin. I'm keeping an eye on it. I'll use salt water next time though.
He's back to his jumping the ladies way, so I think he's gonna be alright.
Liam is staying at my mom's for the moment while I clean up.

She got defensive because she didn't really read all my instructions or follow them. You can tell by the she said she changed the water @8 and lizzie wasnt with her then, but she was going to ask her about putting the duckling in the water - which means she didn't clean or empty it @8. She lied about the last time she gave them clean water, which tells me she didn't make sure he had clean water to wash his face either.

My family is under the impression that I'm over dramatically protective - and I am over protective because I don't want stuff like this to happen to them.

And it did because she didn't do what i asked in the instructions- put liam on his rope out front while they're out back. Nor did she change their water or she would have found it.

And she didn't tell lizzie DONT touch the egg or mess with the baby. Lizzie's only 9, and i know she didn't do it on purpose, she was probably trying to help it and thought it needed to be in the water or something.
