Rescued Duckling... newbie

Pics
There seems to always be one at the bottom of the pecking order. And during laying and breeding season everyone's hormones are sky high which causes tempers to flare. lol

Mine included! I swear I tell fancy a million times a day if i didn't love him, he'd be duck steaks! With all his biting and beating up on poor Isabella

Sooooo, we've moved to our temporary home... it's not done and there are holes - butat least their coop is safe at night for them. And I'm sleeping outside with them... yes, y'all already know I'm crazy in my efforts to make sure they're safe...

Donnella seems to have become Speedy's surrogate momma or sister - she cleans her and I think teaching her to talk duck. They both keep passing Speedy's and Isabella's eggs back and forth until i take the eggs. And they cuddle together - almost feels like speedy doesn't need me anymore and fancy is the only one that seems to still want Momma.

It's funny you sleeping outside with them. But you have to do what's best for your babies.. Coop looks good. Drakes seem to always need their mama for ever My drake just turned 7 yrs old and still loves to snuggle with me. Congrats on the move!!

I'm sleeping in a tent on the deck. I don't mind it, actually - I worry about something pulling the makeshift door I have in front of the coop until I'm able to secure it properly. I'm glad now they can't get out though until i let them out - woke up this morning to a hawk circling around and that netting i have up isn't going to keep it out.

Any suggestions on a more secure temporary idea - i was thinking about puttinh this outside screen stuff up on top of the netting to give them more shade. That should help if he can't see them through it, right?
