Rescued duckling not active? Help!

Actually, if he's had a stroke (rare, but it can happen), he may not be all there, mentally. Please be sure he eats well in the a.m. and if anyone can check on him and feed him midday a time or two, that could make a big difference.

Will do! I've just put him to bed and given him a good crop full. He shows much more interest if I throw a handful of food into the bottom of his water bowl and he gets to dig for it in there.... I'm thinking maybe he was a pond duck before and never had a feeder so he doesn't get it? I threw some pellets in the pool earlier just to watch him bill for them and he seemed the understand that... Maybe he just needs to learn about feeders and what dry food looks like?

He makes that happy little trill/whistling noise when I do that too, I love!

I hope I am! I've got to work today and won't be home till late in the evening and no one else will be home till around 5. I've left him dry food, food in the bottom of a water dish and plain water, I'm hoping he figures it out and doesn't starve himself. I'm also planning to keep close watch on him the next few days and if he doesn't quit laying down so much I'm going to start supplementing brewers yeast. I'm really pushing for this guy to pull through! I'll update when I get home!

Edited to add: an update for his girls! They seem very happy in their dog kennel brooder. They can easily hop up on the brick for food and water and alternate between resting in the warmth of the lamp and going to the front to chirp at the hens, they are not as frightened by the egg song as Han Solo and the chickens don't try to peck them through the dog kennel door like they try to peck at Han through the wire. I'm so excited about all my ducks and am hoping everyone makes it.... Also that we were right in sexing them. I figure there's a fifty percent chance. If not, I guess I'll have to cull and replace. I'm pretty much at my legal poultry limit with nine.

K, I didn't get a chancery post when I was home earlier but Han Solo appeared to have eaten and drank some water on his own!

Great news, and at Hans age they tend to do this lay down alot, He may need so stimulation like a safe non breakable mirror in his bedroom and a stuffed animal. something to keep his lil mind and body busy. till he can have his lil friends join him. are you adding niacin to his water? very important for leg strength.
