Rescued Goose... now what...needs some tlc... UPDATED new pics

His feathers are falling out it may be part he is molting and part it looks like they were chewed? He does have access to a pool and even likes to be hosed down but the brown isn't coming of th feathers.

He's molting. The old feathers can be really frayed from wear, and it seems they start looking dirty just before they fall of. Just give him a few weeks, and he'll look like a shiny angel again!

How long do think it will take him to see this as his home?

I think he already does. He has really connected with you and feels safe with you, so you're home to him now. It probably takes him a little longer to really get to know and accept his new surroundings, but as long as you are there it speeds up the process.

My Emden gander just finished his molt so thats probably what your seeing with his feathers not looking so good, sounds like you have a sweet one. Congrats..

Glad to know it's just a normal molt! He has a pool but doesn't like to get in yet he mostly just splashes water on himself with his head. He also isn't much interested in grass or grazing yet. I put fresh greens in his area in the morning but only a bite here and there. I let my ducks out to graze in the afternoon but my yard isn't fenced yet so he just tries to run . Im sure he is just getting use to this place so hopefully he will relax with time.

Looking at pictures I think it may be a girl... I am going to take some more pictures tomorrow and upload them. Nevertheless he/she is making great process. Tonight I was able to put up some temp fence so she could enjoy the yard without me following her everywhere and to my surprise she made sure I was in HER eyesight!!! Yay she likes me! She is in full molt now the feathers are everywhere! She is spending more and more time preaning them now....She mostly ignores the ducks right now do you think with time she might like them?

Just wanted to update everyone that my new friend is doing well. She is adjusting well to her new home. She is so sweet! She hasn't hissed once since we found her! I can see her new feathers are starting to come in and she is looking better....She doesn't like to share with the ducks yet but they are learning just to move out the way and come back to the water or food when she is done..I do wish she had a goose friend but she is getting lots of love and attention from us until we can get her a friend... I'm still amazed that someone would just drop off such a sweet creature to just fend for itself........ She is pampered now! Any more thoughts if She is really a She??
