Rescuing a Duck today....Found a good home for her!

This is my crested runner drake Sammy

It is a crested Saxony. No Runner there whatsoever. Probably from Ideal hatchery. Nice crest, size and placement of crest. Unfortunatly its not on a solid white or solid black bird. Such a shame since crests are so hard, and heres a nice one, but not on the right type of duck. As for care...DUCKS ARE SO EASY! I sometimes consider selling all the chickens and just have ducks because they are that much easier. We use a big long PVC trough feeder (4" PVC cut in half length wise) and feed all of our ducks in that...the chickens don't like it because they can't scratch in it as well. But it spreads out the feed and gives plenty of feeder space for the birds. Best of luck with your new duck. Here are some actual saxony Indian Runners...a very nice pattern on the breed.

Your new duck looks nice, very nice crest. Yeah, doesn't look like a runner, or, at least, a full-blooded one. Sounds like a character. I wonder if someone kept her in the house a lot before. Sounds like she's an indoor duck.

Alrighty then! It's been an awefully interesting evening! I went and picked up this needy little ducky and she stole my heart right away!

I still have yet to make this little sweetheart the proper accomodations as she demanded my attention until Kathleen got home to help babysit. This one has defenitly been pampered by human attention and knows what the house is. She even seemed to know how to bully the cats the same way our chickens do! (ETA: Actually, Kathleen said that while I was outside running the grill she appeared to be trying to "play" with one of our cats.)

She is definetly a sweetheeart for sure! She cant stand to be left alone. The whole story goes.... This lady was at the gas station and this duck just came up to her and tryed to follow her around. The lady took her home and let her sleep there for the night and then took her to Dr. Beth's office because she didn't know what to do with her or how to take care of her. This has to be THE sweetest duck in the world if not a very close contender! She is very dependant of human companionship as you cant even leave her site without a BIG fit. Lucky little ducky to find us but if she was taken good care of somewhere else I'd gladly give her back

She needs a companion and we're just not ready to get into ducks right now. I already have my hands full trying to get this place ready for winter and finishing the coop for our Sultans so we can get them out of the big girl (layer) coop. Anyone interested, or know someone? I cannot ship.
