Rescuing goose from park. I would love some advice!

Steffany - Where are you located? THANK YOU for your efforts to rescue that poor goose.

We also have a large pond on our front yard shared by our geese and call ducks. And they do quite well out there with the water to provide them some protection, and our dogs keep most things run off anyway. We have a lot of perimeter lighting, and I think that helps as well.

Regardless if the poor goose is a boy or girl, it would be happier with a mate. I hope we are close enough that I can help you out!!!

If its possible to find some quiet time sit with some bread and a mirror. Like one from your wall something 8x10 or so. She'll/He'll come to you. Keep us updated. My geese who are 7 yrs old now still go insane even if I so much as wash their mirrors. You may be able to get your hands on him/she easier. Good luck

A dog kennel with the door open and food/treats inside may be of some use for you as well.
Yep good idea, I used an Xpen for dogs, left the end open put feed all the way to the back and waitied, I used corn this time, I had been feeding them for a few weeks before I tried this though, these were ducks someone dumped in the river [Muscovy]

I am in Caldwell, TX. The goose has only been there for a couple of weeks. The city officials found the goose running around in town. Hopefully I can catch him this weekend.

I rescued a chinese goose from a retention pond this past spring. I used a dog cage with about 25 ft. of 3' plastic fencing on each side and it worked really well. Two people "herded" the goose into the funnel (it took a couple of tries to get her into the funnel), but surprisingly she just walked right back into the kennel. I was a little worried she might try to fly over the kennel, but she didn't. This was also done right before dusk, so I think she was having a hard time seeing which probably helped! (sorry for the not so great drawing, we failed to take pics of our setup)
Good luck!
