Researching before I start

You are so wise to "lurk and learn" before getting your chicks. Seems like a lot of people get those cute little chicks before being prepared. Good luck and

Let's just say I've done the "leap before looking" before. One of my favorite sayings is:
Good judgement comes from experience;
Experience comes from bad judgement!

Given all the activity around my current house there's no way I could get away with trying to fly under the radar. So my options are to browse property listings (must be zoned ag and no HOA), look into coop designs, and learn how to care for them so when I do get mine I hope to have little attrition. I'm also researching dairy goats. The one thing I AM able to start now is a garden ... the city at least still allows those. In fact, I found BYC by Googling to see if chickens are allowed here.
