Respiratory Disease? Help!

I will agree with JessicaLynn on the Tylan 50. We gave our silver laced wyandotte the injections for about 5 days when she was sick about 6 months ago. It worked wonders and I feel we saved her life. I had my New Hampshire Red (Ruby) die on me a couple weeks before this from what I believe to have been the same respiratory infection.

You can actually give them 1 cc of tylan in the breast. If for some reason you move birds(ie...showing,moving,etc...) you can add 15cc to 1 gallon of drinking water for a couple of days. The full cc does good.We actually use LA200 lots of times with the full 1 cc dosage. If you use Tylan, mix B complex with it half and half and dose 1 cc per bird for full size and 1/2cc for bantam size.It really helps them with the vitamins and nutrients also. Buy some Apple cider vinegar and mix 1oz per gallon water and this will help break up any mucous buildup they have.

The best medicine for chickens once you have a respitory infection is preventive measures.

Bleach at the rate of 1 oz per 1 gallon of drinking water (no metal waterers) will kill the microbs that cause the infection and keep them from passing it one to another.

I've been doing the bleach in the water for over 5 years now at the recommendation of the Clemson University Poultry Specialist. This all started after I came down with Coryza in the flock. You don't know NASTY until you've fought Coryza. The bleach has saved my flock. I would not consider raising chickens without it. I change the water regularly and add the bleach every time.

If you are fighting CRD then only the fluoroquinolones will help you. All the penicillin world will not cure it.
