Hello All - So I started treating with Fish Mox mixed in yogurt yesterday. But I was able to find Baytril online and I have ordered it. I should have the Baytril by Tues-Weds. So I am wondering if I can discontinue the Amoxicillin and start giving Baytril?

I wanted to get her started on something asap, so I ran around crazy from Tractor Supply to Tractor Supply to get the Fish Mox. And today I found Baytril online which I have ordered.

Thank you in advance

Amoxicillin doesn’t treat mycoplasma (MG,) one of the common respiratory diseases anyway, because the bacteria doesn’t have a cell wall. But the Baytril, or some other antibiotics such as Tylan, oxytetracycline, denagard, and doxycycline will treat MG. So I would treat with the Baytril. It treats most bacteria, even E.coli. But not viruses. Dosage of 10% baytril is 0.05 ml per pound twice a day for 5-6 days. For a 5 pound hen that would be 0.25 ml.

Thanks Eggcessive, so I can discontinue the Amoxicillin and begin the Baytril immediately? I dont need to finish the Amox or have any waiting period to start on Baytril?
