Respiratory Infection

I see that now. I'm not sure why a vet would prescribe Clavamox for one and tell the owner to use Tylan for the others.
They said unless I bring them all in, they won’t treat the whole flock. Someone else told me injectables cannot be given orally because they can damage the esophagus, so now I don’t know what to do. I’m not bringing 13 birds in for exams, it would be over $500 before any medications were even dispensed.

I'm just confused as to why they recommended Tylan. Can you call them and ask why?

Who said that? Plenty of people give injectables orally, myself included.

I don't blame you.

How sick are the other birds? @Miss Lydia gave you a link to Baytril here:

That is probably what I would use.

I spoke with a technician...the vet herself is fabulous. She basically said that unless I bring them in, they would recommend I pick up tylan. I’m a bit annoyed because when this began with the one, I asked if I should treat everyone with tylan and was told not to. They’re closed now, so I can’t call. Someone in a Facebook group like went off when I posted for dosing instructions. I’m fine giving the injectables, as long as that’s fine. I just wanted to be sure. No one is terribly sick right now. Some sneezing and some general puffiness. I squeezed their sinus area and bubbles came out, so that’s mainly how I know they have something.

She wouldn’t give me any more information about questions I had either and told me to look online for a lot of what I was trying to ask.

I will look into the baytril. I know that’s a big one, so should I try something else first? Should I get tylan or something else? I’m panning to go to Tractor Supply tonight.

Shame on her, she should not be telling you such things.

Some crazy-rude people on FB.

It's fine.

If it's not too bad, I think I would get the Baytril and try it.

It is powerful, but it is probably your best choice.

If any of them get worse, try the Tylan.
