Greetings all. We are new to the forum, but have been lurking, reading, and gleaning TONS of helpful info from these boards. We presently have 5x 3.5 week olds: 3 Plymouth Barred Rock chicks and 2 Buff Orpingtons, all from the same (questionable) small local breeder. We have already successfully treated for coccidiosis. Yay. We haven’t lost a chick since that (we lost 5 to what we think was coccidosis).

So now one of the Buff Orps has what appears to be respiratory issues and a drippy eye. Pic below. We got our regular vet to approve powdered Tylan which arrives tomorrow. How best to give antibiotics to these 5 remaining babies? Dosage levels? All advice welcome? They are in a deluxe brooder setup inside our house temp controlled, wood shavings cleaned every 2-3 days, water and chick food cleaned and changed daily. Water includes electrolytes amd/or probiotics. Thanks everyone!

Eva

Dosage is 1 tsp of the powder per gallon of water for 3-5 days as the only source of water. Only add water to the powder or it will not mix properly. Change it at least every 3 days. Tylan can treat symptoms of mycoplasma (MG.)

Thank you! Just to be clear, I can pour from the same gallon of medicated water for the chicks for up 3 days before making a new gallon batch of tylan water? And don’t need to make fresh from new powder and water daily?
