Found one of my hens with lots of yellow crust on her nose and what looks like peeling skin around her eyes but could just be dried goop. Also has a small keel bone scab.

I cleaned her up and seperated her from the flock. She's very lethargic. I've given her both vitamin water and put Oxysol in another waterer for her. Also used Vet RX on her nose and under her wings last night. Her nose sounds really plugged still. Wasn't eating and pooped out some bright green poops. Is eating today. Gave her an egg and regular feed.

Should I be doing anything else? Is Oxysol good for this or should I call my vet and get Tylan or something?

I treated girls with tylan from.tractor supply. The rest of the flock has probably already been exposed so just watch them. Only treat those showing symptoms. Chickens will always be carriers once theyve contracted a respiratory infection. If you choose to ot cull then it's time to close the clock, no new birds in and no old birds out. No selling fertile eggs for hatching either.

Do you know anywhere that sells the water soluble Tylan? Not keen on injections but if I need to get thicker skin I can work up to it.

It sounds like she may have a respiratory disease, such as mycoplasma or others. Oxysol or oxytetracycline does treat symptoms of mycoplasma or MG. In Canada, most antibiotics are only obtained from a vet, including tylan or tylosin. The eye and nasal drainage can dry and look like crust. Using a warm wet paper towel to clean off the eyes and nasal drainage may help. If nostrils are clogged, a drop of hydrogen peroxide on each nostril can help to soften secretions, and a wooden toothpick may help to gently remove a nasal blockage. The sore on the breast bone sounds like a breast blister from continuous pressure. You can clean that with iodine.

Gotcha, thank you.
Does this mean my whole flock is a carrier of this? And does that mean it I hatch eggs from my flock they will also already have this?

Yeah, my flock was recently infected from new chicks. Some people choose to cull the entire flock then start over after a few months. I'm choosing to close my flock and let these girls live out their days. Once they all die we will start over.
Yeah I think that's probably my course of action too. Half my flock is about 4-5 years old so they've had a good run. Damn chickens. Never ends. We had one randomly pass two weeks ago and I think this is all linked.
