If you lose another chicken, do some research beforehand to find out where you might get testing or a necropsy. They can confirm MG or whatever disease is happening. MG can be passed through the hatching eggs, but not other respiratory diseases. Most make the whole flock carriers for life, but once all birds are gone for several weeks, healthy baby chicks can be purchased from a hatchery to start over. Found one of my hens with lots of yellow crust on her nose and what looks like peeling skin around her eyes but could just be dried goop. Also has a small keel bone scab.

I cleaned her up and seperated her from the flock. She's very lethargic. I've given her both vitamin water and put Oxysol in another waterer for her. Also used Vet RX on her nose and under her wings last night. Her nose sounds really plugged still. Wasn't eating and pooped out some bright green poops. Is eating today. Gave her an egg and regular feed.

Should I be doing anything else? Is Oxysol good for this or should I call my vet and get Tylan or something?

I had one girl die out of the blue no symptoms then three days later I have one that starts shaking her head aggressively, pooping water and then she passes two egg yolks with no shell. Very lethargic so I take her to vet they do an X-ray and she has pneumonia pretty bad. Had to put her on antibiotics, bleach out feeders, coop, anywhere she’s been. And I free range She is quarantined from the other girls for two weeks and we have to adhere to strict bio security measures to keep the rest of the flock healthy. I would quarantine your girl away from the rest of the flock and make sure to watch for signs none of the others get sick. Just to be on the safe side. Respiratory infections in chickens are highly contagious
