Hmm, a 6 inch catfish wouldn't be able to pull a duck Bean's size down. He could have latched on to the foot, but he'd never be able to bring him down.
I'm guessing (purely uneducated, mind you) that something else weakened Beans, maybe being fallen on, and that's what killed him. If he was floating for awhile the catfish might have nibbled at his foot, causing the blood spot.
