It is a sad day in country music as icon George Jones has passed. While his heyday was when I was a child and was my "mothers country" I found myself listening to his music and knowing most of the words and songs recalled from my youth of hours of my mothers listening. On a 33LP of all things, that is record for you youngsters. While I like a lot of todays country but most of it can't hold a candle to that era. RIP,George.

I listened to Finally friday, well every friday. I wonder if and how George showed up at the Pearly Gates. Did he ride the famous lawn mower, did he bring White Lightning? So many questions. There are not that many old school country singers left. I wish ocould have seen him life ..

For me, George Jones was every bit the superstar.

I remember the first time I saw him. 1967. I have
several photos of that one.

Last time, probably 2000, 2001. He was doing
a concert with Conway Twitty and Dolly Parton.

Spook....a county music fan.

He did a Conway Twitty concert in 2000? You know that Conway died twenty years ago in 1993 from a ruptured aortic aneurysm.

Wow. I guess it must of been longer ago than I remember.
Time gets away.

I was judging by my having my sister with me. She passed
away in 2001. So I knew it was before that.

I was a Conway fan, she was a big George Jones fan. So
I paid extra for "floor seats" so could get as close as she
could.

And yes, it was worth the price.

Spook...the really, really old guy.

I know that it says his funeral is public, but does anyone happen to know if it will be televised? I really want to see it.

Cant be that old. I saw the Bellamy Brothers and Bobby Bare live twice. I remember seeing the Forrester Sisters in concert too. They were the nicest people ever. One of them took my album cover walked into the hotel with it and had her sisters sign it, then brought it back out for me.
