Restless and ambivalent

Change is good for your life. Adventure is good for your life. Just make sure you are going toward something you want, not just away from something you don't. Also, you've been going through so much lately. Is is possible that you are just wanting to relieve the stress? Make life-altering decisions on a day when you are in a good state of mind.

I stepped away from a career in nursing a few years ago, and radically changed my life. Now, I am a teacher here in CA. (Same basic location, different career.) I really love my job. Teachers here make pretty good $$, but the cost of living is very high. I have thought about moving at some point, but only if I can assure myself that I will be going toward something, not just leaving here.

and good thoughts that you will find what you are looking for. I always enjoy your posts, and know what a thoughtful person you are!

Thank you very much! I've been wanting to move for several years just haven't been able to afford it. That is the most frustrating thing I guess. I own my home and land here and to move and have enough money I'd have to sell it, then I wouldn't have it but I'd be making payments on something else. That scares me this day and age! Sometimes I feel like posting my Paypal account and begging for $5 on Myspace like that college kid did last year and got several thousand dollars lol!!

Though other states may pay more per year, they also have higher standards of living; more expensive housing; long commutes; high crime, and more expensive EVERYTHING. Don't let the grass look greener on the other side of the fence.

You can always start a side business, a work from home business, volunteer - whatever it takes to get you out of the slump and help you to feel motivated and encouraged again.

I'm always starting new businesses and projects and one day my husband said to me "Can we just go a little while without adding any more bells and whistles to Monique's little empire?" I took it as a compliment.

It's not really a case of greener grass, it's not wanting to be where I am anymore. Mentally, emotionally, and physically, I'm not happy. I've wanted to make changes, but I keep saying "later", later seems to be getting here now that Steven's plans are coming together. I'm hoping by the time he graduates next year I'll be in a position to chase after my dreams, the ones that have been on hold awhile. There are three areas of the country I'm looking at, and none of them are 99 degrees today!

My son just phoned for mother's day and I had a chance to ask him about the Dave Ramsey course.

DS and DIL took the 13 week course which cost $95 for both of them. He said it is awesome. A lot of it is with DVDs and if they ever want to take a refresher course on different parts of it, that is free. They had someone who acted sort of like a proctor, for a better word. The course covers everything. He said Dave Ramsey's book is more of an over-view.

One of the posters was right about the quality of life. I live in a farm area with a university about 20 miles from me. I heard the faculty complain constantly about low salaries, but this is a beautiful area to live, low cost of living and low crime rate--it all equals out, I think.

I hope you find a dream job and location.
