sorry if someone has already posted this, but I haven't read through all the posts yet....
after this thread started the other day, I researched it on the Mayo Clinic site. It said some people have the RSL symptoms worsen when they take cold/allergy meds.

go buy a bottle of magnessium at the store. Do not take it with a calcium supplement or anything with a large amount of calcium. You want to take at least 500 my a day. Give it 2 weeks and your RLS should subside. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxer. Calcium is a muscle contractor. Most Americans are magnessium deficient. We don't eat alot of leafy greens and what we do eat is grown on depleted soil.

I couldn't live without it. I have BAD TMJ.

Certain medications-such as antinausea drugs (prochlorperazine or metoclopramide), antiseizure drugs (phenytoin or droperidol), antipsychotic drugs (haloperidol or phenothiazine derivatives), and some cold and allergy medications-may aggravate symptoms. Patients can talk with their physicians about the possibility of changing medications.

and
Secondary RLS

Secondary RLS is usually caused by or linked to other conditions, including:

* Iron poor blood (anemia)
* Kidney disease
* Parkinson’s disease
* Pregnancy (RLS often goes away after pregnancy)
* Thyroid problems
* Neurologic lesions (spinal cord tumors, peripheral nerve lesions, or spinal cord injury)
* Sleep apnea or narcolepsy
* Varicose veins or trouble with the nerves in the hands or feet
* Alcoholism

Medications including tricyclic antidepressants, anti-nausea and anti-seizure drugs, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), lithium, and some cold and allergy drugs may increase or trigger RLS symptoms. In addition, withdrawal from sedatives may trigger RLS.

Uhm... hmmmm.... well...... I can surely attest to the fact that fibromyalgia is most certainly NOT a "made up" illness / condition. If you had to live in my body every day for the past 10 years, I'd guarentee you'd think much differently about that.

Its funny - its always the people that arent sick that always say those things - sort of like my FP - for years and years he didnt believe in it, even though the most and TOP RESPECTED doctors I saw said otherwise....he also didnt believe in pain management...... until he came down with it. Tried denying it for about a year - until he couldnt get out of bed any longer and it took over his life.

Guess who believes in pain management now and is on pain medication as well?

Please... do refrain from saying things like you did unless you have specific first hand experience of a disease and live with it day in and day out. There are many of us on here that do have fibromyalgia and have it badly - I am one of them.

Yes - I do have thyroid issues to whomever posed that question. I have Graves Disease and ..I also have Lupus. I had Graves first though (1992 was dx'd with hyperthyroid... but Graves didnt come along until 1994). Irridiated in 1998 and been on synthetics ever since.

Parallel? I dont know...

Every link I checked after this thread started said that thyroid disease is one of the connections to RLS. I had my RLS for decades before my thyroid disease was diagnosed, but certainly, there are many autoimmune components to all of these.

Ignore the people who comment in ignorance. They'll also tell you it won't happen to them until it happens to them.

That's all I have to say.
