Restraining Killing Cones For Sale

Quote:
Once you get used to slitting throats verses chopping heads you will like it better.. the first one is the hardest and then it gets easier and easier.. If you stay calm, the chicken stays calm and bleeding to death is not traumatic..

I would estimate that it takes about two minutes for a chicken to die..

Your scalding water will stay cleaner much longer also..

Thanks everyone for the positive response- all cones ordered as of this post have been shipped out.

Very resourceful. We processed a bad boy cockerel and hung him by looping twine around his legs and throwing it over a tree limb. It wasn't bad at all, not much flapping, but I think I'd love to use a cone like that next time.

Neat killing cones jaku! I just got chickens recently so I haven't processed any birds yet...but the day will come and I'm sure a cone would come in very handy.
What part of west MI are you in? I'm in the Kalamazoo area.

Jaku,

I inherited 6 killing cones made from galvanized steel, they actually nest in a galvanized table. Was given to us by a buddy of the hubby who used to raise chickens. If you are interested, when the ice disappears and it doesn't look like the South Pole here I would send you a digital picture of the table and cones, if you like. My granny always had me use a railroad tie and chop off heads between 2 nails...the cones are much easier and much cleaner. No bruising on the bleedout either. Just let me know if you wants the pixs?

Absolutely, that sounds like a nice system- you should post the pics on this site- I'd bet a lot of people would like to take a look.

In the batches of meaties I've done, I've gotten experimental, and tried several different methods of dispatching birds- chopping, using a .22, and cone/throat cutting, and I've found the cones to be by far the easiest and safest way to do it. Like you say, no bruising, little flapping, and the birds stay calm.

Hello all,
To answer a PM, as I mentioned before, I'll cut about $2 off the price of each cone ordered if you do it straight through Paypal and cut out the fees eBay charges me. If you're interested in avoiding eBay, please mention that when you PM me for info. In that case, prices are as follows:

$25 per cone, or $43 for two. Shipping cost is included in that price.

I put it on an eBay page because a lot of people aren't comfortable just Paypal'ing money to a random person on the internet without the security of a site like eBay.

Thanks, and enjoy!

Hello, and thanks to everyone who's bought cones already. I just wanted to bump this, since it's meat bird season again, to say that I still have them available. Same deal as the previous post still applies- either PM me and bypass eBay for a little savings, or just go right to the auction page listed in my sig.

Thanks for the great feedback I've received so far as well:
