Retail Coops

Check on Craigslist. I find there are a lot of local folks makign decent coops for a wide range of prices. You can supposrt someone in your area and actually see what you are buyign before it's delivered. All of the reasonably priced commercially made coops I've had experience with have been shoddy.

I ordered mine from Adirondak Storage Barns in NY and have been very happy with it.

I didn't get the one on wheels because my yard is so small, it will stay put. But a nice option if you plan on moving yours around.

COMPLETELY agree with you. Those coops suck the big one and are in no way shape or form predator proof.

Quite true - I am always a little wary about buying things sight-unseen, especially if I'm trying to make sure it's not just nice-looking but also sturdy and predator-proof!

I'm concerned about building my own - I think I may be able to do it at some point but right now I don't trust myself to pull through when it comes to something that people see from the street and that doesn't fall apart when I look at it sideways.

I think I'll have to keep an eye on it - I've seen a few pretty decently-priced coops so far but they're all an hour or more away; I suppose that's good since I only just had the property management company ask the owner if it was OK and I'd hate to miss a good (and close) deal!
