~ Retired and Starting My Future In The Foothills ~

I LOVE that Lizbeth curled up on your pillow. She's sending you a message that's loud and clear. Just wish you knew where she was today...
And don't you just love neck pillows?

Well, yer a wine snob now, while I am just a wine drinker on occasion. But I really liked that San Giovese!

I am wearing my bright red Christmas cat sweater today. My supervisor looked at me and said, "Well, you're very..... Very, today!"

The other supervisor squinted at me, then said, "Oh, cats!" Yah, don't have a chicken Christmas appliqued sweater...... Yet.

Pardeep is here today and he asked if Simba is okay - "He hasn't been eaten, right?". Don't be silly, Pardeep!

He will bring the rest of the bunny family to my house after Christmas.

The Warehouse gal has already called me to ask about Lizbeth, too.

We're having a Soup Day at work. Nice for chilly Winter days. Six different soups for our enjoyment, all cooked by my supervisor. (She's a major Foodie.)

Quote:
Oh MY the luncheon was wonderful! I was wrong, only five soups:
1) Creamy Chicken, Mushroom and Wild Rice.
2) Cheese Enchilada (yes, soup)
3) Beef & Vegetable
4) Potato & Butternut Squash
5) Clam Chowder (with bacon)

Plus sliced meats and cheeses and four varieties of sliced bread for sammiches. And two desserts: Cheesecake and Red Velvet Cake.

Then, we played a game which involved folks taking numbers from an envelope, 1 through 12, and then we all sang the 12 Days of Christmas, with everybody singing the refrain but the individual days' selections were sung only by the holders of the specific numbers. There were about 30 of us (three separate sections of personnel), and 3 of us had #2, so we were the ones singing "Two turtle doves!" in every round. It was a lot more fun than it sounds, and there were prizes for 3 people, chosen by acclaimation. The one gal who had #5 started just saying "Five golden rings" but by the end of the whole song she really got into it with a lovely voice. She was the first prize-winner. Then the guy who changed "Seven Swans a-swimming" (in a rich voice NOBODY knew he had) to "Seven Swans for Poaching!" was our second winner. Third prize-winner was one of us #2 singers; she is a civilian Commander over a closely allied unit in the department. She and I camped it up for our bit.

Plenty left over for snacking later today, and possibly some sammiches tomorrow, too.

We love our supervisor. She's fair, has a wicked sense of humor, and she shares information so we're not always in the dark about what the Brass has decided to do about stuff within our purvey. She is also firm, and will stop any one of us or our entire unit if we get .... riled up about something. Individually or collectively. For her birthday, we all chipped in $20.00 for a gift card to her favorite restaurant. There are seven of us... She didn't expect it at all and got all verklempt.

I have NOT determined where Lizbeth is hiding. She may very well have gotten outside, which worries me. A lot.

The soups and festivities sound like so much fun!
If Lizbeth is completely silent, I'd imagine she made it outside. I'd be worried about Lizbeth, too.
Heck, who am I kidding? I AM worried about Lizbeth...

I have to know........How in the WORLD did you decide between the cheesecake and red velvet cake?????? I would have to have BOTH!!!
Hope Lizbeth makes an appearance soon. I bet she's hiding--cats are incredibly good at hiding in plain sight. I looked frantically for my old cat one day, searching my tiny house over and over again. There are very few placed he could hide. Turns out he was under my kiva ladder, in plain sight. He KNEW I was looking for him and he just sat there, watching me, silently. He thought it was pretty amusing.

Well, I am pretty sure Lizbeth is not in the house. And, during the week, I am not home in daylight hours. As she was an outside kitty from at least July to last Friday, she's probably okay somewhere. There is a coyote population around the warehouse where she hunted and caught mice and gophers, and the coyotes around here are not routinely this close to the residences, so I've got my fingers crossed she is hunkered down someplace. This coming weekend I will be calling for her outside, hoping she comes to a familiar voice - and some food! I feel so bad she's not all toasty warm in one of my closets right now.

I do call for her every evening, but I can spend more time looking for kitty hiding spaces. Hope she hasn't traveled too far.

I'm driving around with a rather large, wooden hutch in the back of my RAV4. The feed store loaded it for me last night, and I am not about to try to unload and move it in the dark when I get home at night. And I am certainly unable to do much more than get myself showered, dressed, and into the car in the mornings to get to work. Brewed a cup of coffee and left it at home this morning.

So I stopped in Plymouth to buy a cup of very hot coffee. Errr, that's all the Plymouth Trading Post offers... Meaning I didn't order it excessively hot because I'm a masochistic or anything. It's practically undrinkable until I nearly reach Rancho Murrietta. Just gotta stay awake behind the wheel until then.

The nice thing about the Hutch In The Back Of The RAV is it blocks the high beams of the jerks behind me who want to ride my bumper. I do not toodle around when I drive - trust me! - but 10 mph over the maximum speed limit ain't good enough for some idiots. (That's just on the straight-aways; I'm no speed demon on the winding mountain "highway.")

Coming home, it is so nice to see the Christmas lights I hung on the front fence and put in one, small cedar. Plus the wreath on the coop door. And the small tree twinkling out through a living room window. This weekend I will add the piece d' resistance: the illuminated, "caroling" chicken family I found on eBay to replace the one destroyed at the rental! It can stay up though the First, and may it annoy the complainant across the street!

Oh, wait, did I type that out loud?
