~ Retired and Starting My Future In The Foothills ~

The 4 male Cayugas that waddle around the property together remind me of 4 old guys that walk around in the park all day and mumble to one another about whatever it is that old men mumble about. LOL! It's gonna be neat to see when your flocklet of cayuga females is old enough to integrate with the older duck flock. The four "old guys" will be *very* happy.

It was funny yesterday when the 2 GIANT Toulouse geese suddenly got "the zoomies" and zipped up one side of the yard, around the front, and down the other with their wings open, hoopin' and a-hollerin'! What was just as cool was when I went by "Leedy Lake" on my way up there and saw the 3 wild Toulouse geese exiting the lake. That was kinda a neat thing to see. They're probably only semi-wild... I would not be surprised if they were purchased because they'll do well in this climate.

Bit by bit, things are coming together at the new house! We need to get a group of guys to get that furniture inside because not only is it 30 feet from the front door, but it's heavy furniture that needs to be carried 30 feet up a relatively steep hill and up relatively steep and uneven steps... we need to find a group of Burly Manly Men that'll do it, at least 3-4 guys (just Lew & Drew can't do it).

Get some of your sons friends to come over. Offer pizza and beverages maybe have the tv ready for the football or wrestling or UFC or whatever when they are done moving everything in.

I had to move this summer and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the help of some mormon missionary kids my friend sent my way. They were 19 and 20 years old...not burly one bit but young and strong and they got done in a few hours stuff that would have took me days. Sure I sat down with them after weeks of thier help and had a nice talk on my porch but...well, I was open to talk with them but not change my belief system. Didn't mean I don't highly regard them as the best bunch of kids God sent my way and doesn't mean they don't pray for me to see the mormon way... as my Pastor said to me when I spoke to him one day, "They are the nicest bunch of folks he ever did meet." And I feel the same way. I was sad when they got transferred..the 2 that started helping me originally... I mean, really sad. They had become like ? little brothers in a sense. I care about them and I know they care about me.

...just sharing my story and know people in the church community...no matter what denomination are often willing to help those in need.

Dunno? We could always ask Mahonri.

When I went to my friends church they had worship and then they split into groups...the kids...the men...and the women. But I didn't stay for the group talks to see what those were exactly but I knew it was further teaching on how they thought God wanted them to live. And that's all I know.

I'll have to ask my friend next time I see her.

Not to get too far off topic (sorry Linda

) but Mormon girls typically do not go on missions. They can but usually opt not to. Ok back to your regularly scheduled gawking at Linda's life!

BTW Linda, glad to hear that you and all your minions are settling in and still saying lots of heartfelt prayers that things work out in your favor when it comes to the ordinances.

I know those stairs look daunting to me to lug up heavy furniture...but once it all gets in place....oh the peace and serenity abounds! It really is a beautiful place. ...and I like the story about the ducks walking around like old men jabbering to one another.

There's a local diner that has those men in there every morning for breakfast. Gosh I love those old men. They've got some good stories too.

I am so freaking' tired. I am mightily relieved it is Friday! Gosh, I'm glad this will be my Forever Home.

It's supposed to rain on Monday. I am considering asking the next door family if their teen-aged boys would like to earn some cash and help move furniture into the house this weekend.

The six ducklings have been roaming the yard during the day while I'm at work; twice now, i've found them in the 40 gallon tub half full of water, unable to get out. At least the big ducks hasd splashed out enough water so the littles could stand in it and not drown. So I dumped it - they can play in the kiddie pool more safely, if the geese and adult ducks allow it. I have seen no evidence that anybody had been using that 300 gallon stock tank, with the escape ramp. (The geese leave feathers in their kiddie pool all the time. No feathers in the stock tank. Don't they know the trouble I went to to get that thing here and set it up for the waterfowl?!?!)

Still no citation in the mail. Not sure if I should be smirking about it, as that shoe could drop at any time. But every time I pick up my mail and flip through the envelopes without finding anything from the county, I have to fight from wearing a big grin. Got my "adjusted tax assessment" notice today. Not sure I understand what it's telling me, but apparently my property is already worth more than I paid for it. Well, DUH.

Perhaps, just perhaps, my influential real estate broker has made enough of a flutter about the situation that somebody has started tucking a certain piece of official work back at the bottom of an in-basket each time it gets closer to being handled. That would be nice, wouldn't it?

I will also really like being past all this bother with my co-worker and now former landlady. I want to be able to talk with her about just normal things, nattering about this and that like old friends without having any tension about her financial situation and worry about getting another tenant crop up between us. Today is september 30 and I am not paying rent for October, but I am paying for new flooring and some major clean-up projects.

Crud. I started thinking about it again.
