Revelation! Not a Magpie, an Ancona!

    This is my 'thought-to-possibly-be' Magpie drake:

    Here is a pic of Ancona from FeatherSite:

    I guess it's understandable to have made the mistake. The girl I got the eggs from mentioned she had some Magpies and didn't mention Anconas. In fact, I NEVER saw an Ancona duck pic til today. I was just flipping thru FS duck section in hopes of finding more interesting black and white ducks and there they were! Anconas!!

    He could still possibly be a magpie, the correct coloring is a spot on the head and back but the perfect markings are rare. Alot of magpies turn out like that. I believe the correct ancona duck markings are small spots evenly spaced throughout, including bill and legs, and like magpies, they do not always turn out like that. But who cares, right? he is a beautiful duck:)
