Ive done a little searching, but not to much, are rheas legal in CA? Ive raised rare reptiles my whole life and about a year ago I started raising quail to feed them. I fell in love with quail and got a bunch. Now I want to get something more exotic. Ive seen rheas for sale but never in California. Can anyone hep me out here or maybe suggest a bird like a rhea? I live in a neighborhood with a small backyard, so and emu might get a little to big. If I have asked any dumb questions please excuse me. I am pretty new to birds and I never really did much research just talked to the guy a my local feed store!

check with your state regulations on fowl if any regulations says something against massive birds then it's a no go, and I would advice against it because rheas need plenty of land to move and free range and could easily hop a fence unless it's wings feathers are clipped

Good answer and as Momoney176 stated , more or less;
if

you don't have enough room for Emus then you def. do not have enough room for Rheas.
